Why Stay in St Anton am Arlberg?
St Anton am Arlberg holds a legendary place in skiing history as the birthplace of Alpine skiing technique and one of Europe's most celebrated ski resorts. The resort's challenging terrain, abundant snowfall (averaging 7 metres per season), and raucous après-ski scene have made it a pilgrimage destination for serious skiers since the early 1900s.
The Arlberg ski area, connecting St Anton with St Christoph, Stuben, Lech, and Zürs, offers 305 km of marked runs and some of the Alps' best off-piste terrain. The Valluga peak at 2,811 metres provides 360-degree panoramas and access to hair-raising expert descents. Hotels in the pedestrianized village centre are steps from the Galzig and Rendl gondola stations.
St Anton's après-ski is Alpine legend. The MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh at the base of the Mooserwirt piste are among the most famous après-ski bars in the world, where ski-boot dancing on tables begins at 3pm. The Taps Bar and Bar Cuba in the village continue the party until the early hours.
Despite its party reputation, St Anton offers excellent skiing for all levels. The Gampen and Kapall areas provide gentle cruising for intermediates, while the North Face and Schindlerkar offer genuinely challenging terrain. The resort village itself is authentically Tyrolean, with traditional wooden chalets, church spires, and mountain views creating a picture-perfect Alpine setting.
